A Peacock Feathers Wedding

Way way way back in June, you may have spotted some Twitter mentions about some secret crafting projects.

Finally all is revealed in Elizabeth's wedding pictures!

More pictures can be seen here and here on Once Wed. And from the very talented Heidi Geldhauser of Our Labor of Love.

I was so honored to be part of this very special couple's day. Elizabeth also rocks for letting me pick out my own bride's maid dress and shoes too!!

A Maine Wedding

Outside of Black Point Inn

Over the weekend we took a short trip with a long drive up to Portland, Maine for a wedding of a college friend. The wedding and reception took place at the gorgeous Black Point Inn. We are already making mental notes to come back and stay at the Inn!
The home renovator/restorer in us squealed when we saw that the hotel is part of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Glass door knobs and beautiful woodwork! Yippie!

P.S.- We also had dinner at Hugo's in Portland on Saturday. Hugo's Chef, Rob Evans is the Winner 2009 James Beard Foundation, Best Chef Northeast. I highly recommend this place! I'm still dreaming of the duck entree.

Sunny Tied Quilt

Sunny Tied Quilt- Purl Bee

I knew when I saw the pattern for the Sunny Tied Quilt on Purl Soho's blog, that it would be perfect for the Pittsburgh wedding couple. To describe the bride, Nicole, would be if you put sunshine, Gerber daisies, Hello Kitty, some country/hippie/vintage and some Namaste in a huge mixing bowl.

The top of the quilt took no time at all, but tying the quilt and folding the binding took forever. I had to do the tying and sandwiching of the quilt at my parents house since I had no room in my house to lay the quilt out.

Here's the finished project with some embroidered pillowcases too. It was the first quilt I finished, so hopefully it doesn't fall apart!

A Pittsburgh wedding

We travelled to Pittsburgh over the weekend to attend the wedding of a very dear friend. Her outdoor ceremony and reception took place at Springwood without a spot of rain (well maybe a slight drizzle). The next day we planned to do some touristy stuff, but the weather did not cooperate. If you ever go to a wedding in Pittsburgh, make sure you find the cookie table!
