picking grout color

Do you guys know how to pick grout colors? Is there a design science to picking the perfect color?

I took to photobucket and "pulled" the color of the tiles into some fake grout lines.

Wall tile with grout

dark gray - medium gray - beige - chocolate brown

What would you choose?

Last night prior to making this little picture, I would have picked the dark gray. Now seeing it with the tile, I'm leaning toward a different color. Help!

I usually lean towards lighter grout colors. To me, it makes the grout disappear a little more, which is the look I prefer. I wanted to like the light gray, but I think I actually like the beige better! Good luck. : ) I love the tile, by the way!

I like both the dark gray and the chocolate brown, but I think one of the grays would work best with all the other details you've shared so far.

i think i'd choose the medium gray, like a stone shade.

I like the beige or chocolate brown.

I like the beige best. To me, the darker colored grouts seem to chop up the field, while the beige makes a more cohesive look.

Picking grout is the hardest thing for me and we've made mockups every single time we grout and spend a week staring at them http://madisonsquare.wordpress.com/2011/02/03/grout-vote/ but I like your method better!
So now that we've established that I'm awful at picking grout, I like the medium grey & then beige :)
